Ian has over 25 years' experience managing P/Ls in senior commercial roles including in FMCG, Telecommunications, and private equity. Ian has extensive Australian and New Zealand market experience as well as country market experience in all major international markets.

During his time as Chief Marketing Officer for a major Telecommunications company, Ian led the digital transformation of the organisation, which led the category on several fronts, created an audacious brand vision and repositioned the brand value proposition. Results included: exceeded 100% of revenue and profit growth targets at each 6-month milestone; the customer base grew by 105%; and sales revenue increased by 102%, amongst other achievements.

Prior to this, Ian worked at Kellogg’s for 14-years across Australia and New Zealand. Brought in to re-vitalise the ailing, yet iconic, Nutri Grain brand, Ian led a complete turn-around of the brand. He re-vamped the Nutri Grain Iron Man series, attracting new investment partners and more than doubling Iron Man television audiences. In addition, Ian led a cross functional team for development of a “breakfast” strategy to be implemented over 3-years, which returned growth to Kellogg’s and underpinned a successful bid for global funding to develop the first Kellogg’s master-brand campaign focused on nutrition.

As a Director of Strategic Specialists Group and consulting as a strategist and Chief Marketing Officer, Ian engages directly with business owners throughout Australia and listens to frustrations expressed about how to grow business.

Ian leads the proprietary Discovery Roadmap strategic planning process for Strategic Specialist Group clients. Over time, Ian has worked with an extensive number of clients across multiple industry sectors. From manufacturing and distribution, to wholesaling and retailing, through export and supply chain to services, consumer products, food, beverage, and equipment hire. A broad range of businesses with diverse strategic or operational issues blocking growth.
