Gavin has 20 years’ experience working for SMBs in the Technology, Education and Manufacturing industry sectors. He has achieved outstanding results in the SaaS Cloud Solutions environment throughout the Asia-Pacific region following success as a commissioned officer for the Royal Australian Air Force for 8- years. Gavin currently consults to small-to-medium businesses, with $1-$50m turnover per year, where he provides strategic marketing and sales works with business teams to re-define the sales function to enable rapid growth. He commercialised a SaaS product from zero to $1,000,000 annual contract revenue with unfunded, organic growth within 3-years and defined the strategic plan to achieve $5 million revenue within 3-years. Gavin is the business owner of Sentrient, which provides SaaS solutions to businesses throughout Asia-Pacific.

Gavin's experience with SMBs

Gavin’s experience with SMBs is through running his own business and consulting to SMBs domestically and internationally. He has found a key issue for small-to-medium businesses is to ensure sound governance, risk management, and compliance across the whole of any business. Secondly, functional management, particularly for the disciplines of Marketing and Sales, includes a range of challenges for defined roles and responsibilities, reporting (including target management, pipeline management and forecasting), communications, organisational structure, and effective staff management. Third, Gavin sees leadership and management for these critical disciplines experiencing challenges with engagement and transparency and having difficult conversations such as required to performance manage both low performing and high performing team members. Through engagement with SMB clients, Gavin also notes that the number one problem he has encountered within SMBs is a clear understanding of what the business sells, who they are selling it to and how they sell it to them.
